Global economy is based on the high consumption of natural resources. The main driving forces of resource consumption are economic growth, technological progress and the change in the models of consumption and production. About one-third of the resources used become waste and harmful emissions. Housing construction, food and mobility hold the biggest share in the use of resources and have the biggest impact on environment.
Long years of waste disposal have resulted in many harmful effects on health and environment. Waste further accounts for loss of natural resources, for instance, metals, glass, plastic, etc. are recyclable and thus can save the production of primary resources for the making of new products.
This is why the reliable waste management can safeguard public health and environment and at the same time help preserve natural resources, which will then help future generations to live in a clean environment.
Makmetal Holding JSC has specialized in the recycling of waste electric and electronic equipment, vehicles, batteries and accumulators.
End-of-life vehicles /ELV/
Transportation requests are received at telephone numbers: 0 800 14 100 or 0888 29 84 17.
Once ELV enter the site for temporary storage they are subject to preliminary treatment, which includes drainage of hazardous liquids with the help of a special installation, then stripping the vehicle of glass, bumpers, tires, etc.
The rest goes to the so-called shredding installation. It fragments the vehicle body to tiny particles and then following a special technological process the machine separates the types of waste – ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, plastic, etc. Each of these raw materials is then shipped to the relevant recycling enterprises.
Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment /WEEE
Free collection of old equipment from your address. A schedule has been planned on the territory of Sofia Municipality under which 4 mobile teams transport the old electric and electronic equipment of citizens.
Transportation requests are accepted at telephone numbers: 0 800 14 100 and 0885 77 00 41.
After having been delivered to the site for temporary storage, the collected equipment is sorted by type and treated according to their specific features, which accounts for selective disposal of hazardous waste and preparation for subsequent treatment / recovery.
Waste batteries and accumulators
Throughout the country there is a network of containers placed on public and easily accessible venues - administrative buildings, chain stores, schools, universities, kindergartens, etc.
The network includes more than 20 Bulgarian municipalities and the integration of new municipalities is underway.
Waste batteries are collected at sites for temporary storage, after certain quantities are collected they are exported for recycling abroad, where the company has sealed a contract with recycling plants. On the territory of the country, there are still no facilities for the recycling of this type of waste.
Investments in technology and equipment
Makmetal Holding JSC pursues serious investment policy in equipment and technologies for the recycling of various types of waste.
